Positive affirmations by theme
At the heart of Selfia is a feed of affirmations you scroll through: more than 17,000 phrases (17,584 to be exact), written in English and French, sorted into themes such as self-confidence, calm, gratitude, courage, self-love, relationships, work, studies, parenting and sleep. You pick up to five themes at a time. The English is not a word-for-word translation: each idea is written natively in both languages.
These phrases are written to be believed, not just repeated. They acknowledge what is hard before offering something else, with no promises about the future and no forced positivity. For example: “I’m not holding up the whole day. Just the next hour.” If you wish, you can share your life situation, and Selfia adds phrases written for it; those phrases are never shown to someone who has not shared that situation.
- A feed to scroll, favorites, and “Not for me” to drop a phrase for good.
- Sharing as an image, on a card signed by Selfia.
- The “I” voice in the feed, the “you” voice in reminders.
- Separate themes: Quotes, Tips and, if you choose it, Spirituality.
Who it’s for: you, if overly upbeat affirmations ring false and you want one honest phrase for the morning, a break or the evening.
Free or Pro: the feed is free and unlimited, with 19 themes. Selfia Pro adds the Astrology and Dreams themes, and lifts the limits of the free version (2 theme changes and 4 fresh draws a month).
On this site: positive affirmations by theme.
Quotes of the day, with author and work
The Quotes theme gathers 800 passages by public-domain authors, from Victor Hugo to Marcus Aurelius, Montaigne, Shakespeare and Baudelaire, each with its author and work. Every quote was found word for word in a source text (Project Gutenberg, Wikisource): a line that circulates with changed words or a made-up author does not get into Selfia. A translation is either in the public domain or written by Selfia and labeled as such.
Who it’s for: anyone who likes a short, sourced thought to keep or to share.
Free or Pro: free.
On this site: quotes by author and by theme.
Verses and sacred texts, if you wish
An optional step offers texts from your tradition: the Bible, the Tanakh, the Quran, and Buddhist, Hindu, Sikh and Taoist texts, 1,694 verses in all, alongside sayings of sages. They come from public-domain translations (King James Version, Pickthall, JPS 1917, Louis Segond 1910, Kazimirski…) and are reproduced unchanged, with their reference. Your answer about spirituality stays on your phone. It’s free. On this site: sacred texts.
Daily content: History, General knowledge, Good news
Every day, Selfia offers three short reads: a History fact (“On this day”), a General knowledge fact (“Did you know?”) and a piece of Good news, each with a phrase to keep you company. They are prepared automatically by Selfia from open sources (Wikidata, the World Bank, NASA), with the name of the source, its license and a link to check it, then reviewed by a second automatic pass. Mistakes are still possible: “Report an error” sits under every item.
Who it’s for: one minute of curiosity that ends on a kind note.
Free or Pro: today’s content is free. The archive of previous days (calendar, “Surprise me”) is part of Selfia Pro; without a subscription, you can browse it for 3 minutes a day. The content downloads when your phone is online, then stays readable offline.
Animated meditation and guided breathing
Animated meditation offers 8 sessions of 5 to 15 minutes: gentle yoga, seated meditation, breathing and winding down for sleep. A silhouette shows you each pose and follows your breath, and the instructions appear on screen. There is no voice: keep your own music, or the silence. Before every floor session, a reminder: if it pulls or hurts, come out of the pose and breathe.
The Guided breathing module shows a circle that breathes with you, at three paces: coherent breathing, 4-7-8 breathing and box breathing.
Who it’s for: anyone who wants to move or breathe for a few minutes without listening to a voice, in the morning, at work or before bed.
Free or Pro: the Breathing 4-6, Gentle wake-up and Supple back sessions are free, as is guided breathing. The other five (Midday break, Short flow, Grounded and strong, Seated meditation, Before sleep) are part of Selfia Pro; without a subscription, you can try them for 3 minutes a day.
On this site: guided breathing exercises.
22 relaxation modules
Modules are small scenes you touch with your fingertip to settle for a few minutes: rake the sand of a zen garden, join the stars of a constellation, rub a singing bowl, guide fireflies, fold an origami figure. Each one has its own sounds.
- 9 free modules: Zen garden, Sea and waves, Rain on the window, Starry sky, Jar of calm, Guided breathing, Cairn, Colouring and Jigsaw puzzle (some drawings and puzzles are Pro).
- 13 Pro modules: Koi pond, Floating lanterns, Firefly forest, Campfire, Glowing jellyfish, Singing bowls, Sand mandala, Fireflies to guide, Origami, Dance of the leaves, Ink and brush, Soap bubbles, Gratitude balloons.
Who it’s for: anyone who needs a break without reading or deciding anything.
Free or Pro: the 9 free modules have no limit. Without a subscription, you can try one Pro item for 3 minutes a day; with Selfia Pro, all 13 Pro modules are unlimited.
Living backgrounds, fonts and ambient sounds
Behind your phrases, more than thirty animated living backgrounds: lavender, sunflowers, rice terraces, a lighthouse at night, a mountain lake at dawn, the Milky Way, the northern lights. The “Follow the daylight” option switches backgrounds between dawn, day, dusk and night. You also choose the font of your affirmations.
For sound, 24 ambiences (fine rain, morning forest, wood fire, waves…) and a few music tracks, made for Selfia, to blend in a mixer, with a sleep timer.
Who it’s for: anyone who wants the screen and the sound to match the moment.
Free or Pro: 16 living backgrounds, 13 fonts, 11 ambiences and music tracks and a 2-track mixer are free. Selfia Pro unlocks every background, 38 fonts, 28 ambiences and music tracks, a 4-track mixer and saved mixes. Without a subscription, you can try one Pro background for 3 minutes a day.
Journal and mood
The journal helps you write a few lines and note your mood. Guided questions and templates give you a starting point when the page stays blank. You can also write a time capsule: a message to yourself, to open later, or on a day when things are hard. Everything is stored on your phone, and you can export your journal.
Who it’s for: anyone who wants a mood or gratitude journal with no account, where your words never leave your phone.
Free or Pro: the journal and mood tracking are free and unlimited. Free gives you one time capsule at a time; Pro, as many as you like. Weekly and monthly summaries are described below.
To get started: Selfia guides.
Daily horoscope
Selfia offers a daily horoscope for all 12 signs, in English and French. It is written by Selfia from the real positions of the planets, and a panel shows the day’s transits used to write it. It is built into the app, so it reads offline. Read it for fun and reflection: it does not predict anything.
Who it’s for: anyone who enjoys astrology as a moment to think about their day.
Free or Pro: the general daily horoscope is free. The Love, Work, Health and Finance sections, and the weekly view, are part of Selfia Pro; an optional rewarded video opens a section for 24 hours.
On this site: today’s horoscope by sign.
Rituals and reminders
A ritual strings together a few short steps: breathe, set an intention, read affirmations, note three things you’re grateful for, do a body scan, spend a moment in a module. Selfia offers rituals for the morning, gratitude, calm, focus and sleep, plus a 7-session program, “Finding calm”. Short sessions (coherent breathing, 4-7-8, box breathing) are always free.
Reminders send you an affirmation at the times you choose, in the second person. Phrases from sensitive themes, such as emotional support, never show on the lock screen.
Who it’s for: anyone who wants a small fixed moment in the day, with no streak to keep.
Free or Pro: free gives you one guided ritual a day, short sessions, the 7-day program and 3 reminder times. Selfia Pro adds unlimited guided rituals, the ritual builder, the 21-session “Kindness toward yourself” program and as many reminder times as you want.
Community and Buddy
In the Community, you read phrases written by other people who use Selfia, keep the ones that speak to you (“Keep”) and share them by link or as an image card. You can also write your own phrase, 20 to 140 characters long. Kept private, it stays on your phone. Published, it is reviewed automatically, then by a person when in doubt, and shown without your name. You can report a phrase or block its author, and the numbers for your phrases are visible to you only.
Buddy links two people who know each other to exchange one gentle sign a day (“Thinking of you”, “I’m here”, “Thank you” or a phrase from the catalog), under pseudonyms. You invite someone with a single-use code valid for 48 hours. There are no free messages, no photos and no notifications, and “Leave” ends the link in one tap.
Who it’s for: publishing a phrase and using Buddy are reserved for people aged 18 and over. Reading the library is open to everyone who uses the app.
Free or Pro: free. Selfia Pro adds the 7-day curve of your published phrases; the totals stay free.
Words for me and summaries written by Selfia
With “Words for me”, Selfia writes a small batch of phrases for you, based on what you choose to show it: your answers to a few questions, the trend of your mood, the paragraph of your last summary and, only if you tick the box, up to three short excerpts from your journal. Before anything is sent, you can see exactly what will go. The phrases come back to your phone, and “Not for me” drops any that rings false.
Journal summaries sum up your week or your month in a few lines, and questions written by Selfia help you go deeper into an entry.
These features are optional and off by default. Nothing is sent without your explicit consent, which you can withdraw at any time. The text is processed by an automatic text-processing provider named in the privacy policy, and Selfia keeps no copy. If your week looks heavy, Selfia does not write phrases: it suggests the Emotional support theme and help resources instead.
Free or Pro: without a subscription, one trial batch of Words for me and one discovery summary a month, and guided questions prepared on your phone. With Selfia Pro, one batch a week (with two rewrites), weekly and monthly summaries, and questions written by Selfia.
What works offline
Affirmations, quotes, verses, the horoscope, the journal, modules, sounds and meditation sessions are inside the app: they work without a connection. Daily content downloads once you’re online, then stays readable offline. Community, Buddy, summaries, Words for me, the subscription and rewarded videos need a connection.
Your privacy
No account to create. Your journal, your profile and your answers stay on your phone. Only the optional features you turn on (publishing a phrase, Buddy, texts written by Selfia, usage statistics) send information, after your consent. No data is sold. Details: privacy policy.
