About Selfia
Selfia is an affirmation and well-being app published by Mathis Belouar-Pruvot, an independent publisher based in France. The project started in August 2025 with a simple idea: a useful phrase is one you can believe today. Selfia is available on Android, in English and French.
Who makes Selfia
Selfia is published by Mathis Belouar-Pruvot, an individual based in France, who is also its publication director. The full legal notice (status, host, distribution) is in the terms of use, and how your data is handled is in the privacy policy.
Why Selfia exists
Many affirmations promise everything and say nothing: “anything is possible”, “I deserve it all”. Selfia starts from the opposite: a concrete phrase that acknowledges what is hard before offering something else, and that you can believe the same day. For example: “I’m not holding up the whole day. Just the next hour.”
Around these phrases, the app brings together what helps you slow down for a moment: quotes by authors, guided breathing, animated meditation, relaxation modules and a journal. All of it with no account, and without your journal ever leaving your phone.
Our principles
Believable affirmations
A Selfia affirmation names a concrete situation, acknowledges what is hard, offers a choice instead of giving orders, and promises nothing about the future. Some words are kept out of the catalog: universe, vibration, manifest, “you deserve everything”. A phrase that assumes a particular situation, such as grief or losing a job, is only shown to people who have said it applies to them.
Your privacy first
There is no account to create. Your journal, your profile and your answer about spirituality stay on your phone. The features that send information (publishing a phrase, Buddy, texts written by Selfia, usage statistics) are optional, ask for your explicit consent, and show you what will be sent. No data is sold. You can erase everything from the app or by following the delete your data page.
No banner ads
Selfia shows no banners, and no ads when you open the app or during a session. The free version only offers rewarded videos that you choose to watch. The Selfia Pro subscription is optional.
Texts checked word for word
Selfia’s 800 quotes and 1,694 verses come from public-domain texts and are reproduced unchanged, with their author, work or reference. Phrases marked “Inspired by” are written by Selfia and never present themselves as quotes or as revealed words. Selfia does not speak on behalf of any religion.
Health: not a medical device
Selfia is a well-being and inspiration app. It does not diagnose anything, promises no health effect and does not replace a professional. Phrases from sensitive themes never show on the lock screen. When what you write suggests you are going through something very heavy, Selfia does not write phrases for you: it shows you help resources instead.
How the content is written and checked
- Affirmations. They are written for Selfia in English and French: the English is not a word-for-word translation, the same idea is written in each language. Automatic checks review the catalog at every update (duplicates, excluded wording, exact texts), and the app’s real feed is simulated for 30 different reader profiles (ages, situations, beliefs) to catch phrases that assume a situation the reader is not living.
- Quotes. A quote is never written from memory. It is found in a public-domain source text (Project Gutenberg, Wikisource) and compared word for word; a quote that cannot be found is dropped.
- Verses. They are never typed by hand: they are extracted from public-domain translations (King James Version, JPS 1917, Pickthall, Louis Segond 1910…), and extraction fails if a reference does not exist or if the text differs from the source.
- Daily content. History, General knowledge and Good news are prepared automatically by Selfia from open sources (Wikidata, the World Bank, NASA), with the source and its license, then reviewed by a second automatic pass.
- Horoscope. It is written by Selfia from the real positions of the planets, and the transits used to write it are shown under each horoscope.
- Summaries and Words for me. They are written by Selfia, at your request and with your consent, then reviewed by a second automatic pass. They can get things wrong: “Not for me” drops a phrase that rings false.
- Community. Every phrase is reviewed automatically before publication, then by a person when in doubt. Anyone can report a phrase.
