Leo is the fifth sign of the zodiac, from about July 23 to August 22, in the middle of summer. It is a fixed fire sign and the only sign ruled by the Sun, which tradition associates with identity, vitality and the need to shine. Its symbol is the lion, king of the animals in the old fables.
Astrology describes Leo as warm, generous, loyal and creative, at ease in the spotlight and attached to dignity, its own and other people’s. It likes to give, to protect and to bring people together. The expected flip side: a pride that takes criticism badly, a need for recognition, and the temptation to make everything about itself on a bad day. Its opposite sign, Aquarius, thinks of the group where Leo thinks of the heart. The Sun crosses Leo at the hottest time of year in the Northern Hemisphere, and many read that as a simple picture of the sign: light and warmth to share.
Affirmations for Leo
Eight lines from Selfia, picked from the themes the app pairs with Leo: confidence and creativity. Realistic affirmations, meant as reminders rather than promises.
- My idea deserves to be said, even if someone’s likely thought it too.
- I can own my contribution without erasing everyone else’s.
- Even if my voice shakes, what I say is still what I say.
- Often other people notice my momentum before they notice my hesitation.
- Maybe everything has been done already, but not with my detours or my eye.
- Someone calling this hobby childish doesn’t obligate me to give it up.
- An idea that scares me a little deserves five minutes from me, not a verdict.
- A fair critique can sting and still be useful to me, both at once.
