Gemini is the third sign of the zodiac, from about May 21 to June 20, at the end of spring. It is a mutable air sign ruled by Mercury, the planet tradition associates with speech, exchange, short trips and learning. Its symbol is a pair of twins, often linked to Castor and Pollux, the twins of Greek myth who also gave their names to the two brightest stars of the constellation.
Astrology credits Gemini with quick curiosity, a taste for ideas and conversation, humor and an easy ability to adapt. Mutable signs close the seasons and know how to change shape. The expected flip side: scattered attention, wavering between two options, and restlessness when the mind runs too fast. Its opposite sign, Sagittarius, looks for the big picture where Gemini collects details. In an astrological reading, whatever Mercury, the ruling planet, is doing weighs a little more for Gemini than for other signs.
