Virgo is the sixth sign of the zodiac, from about August 23 to September 22, at the end of summer, when the harvest comes in. It is a mutable earth sign ruled by Mercury, like Gemini; but where Gemini draws curiosity from Mercury, Virgo draws analysis, sorting and precision. Its symbol is a young woman holding an ear of wheat.
Astrology associates Virgo with an eye for detail, pride in work done well, helpfulness, discretion and genuine attention to the body and to healthy routines. It prefers improving what exists to starting over. The classic pitfalls: perfectionism, self-criticism, and worrying about things that do not deserve it. Its opposite sign, Pisces, accepts the blur where Virgo wants everything clear. If this is your sign, one simple idea worth keeping close: finished usually beats perfect.
Affirmations for Virgo
Eight lines from Selfia, picked from the themes the app pairs with Virgo: organization and everyday health. Realistic affirmations, meant as reminders rather than promises.
- I look at what’s already working in my day before hunting for what’s broken.
- Every finished thing frees up space in my mind, even a small one.
- A break isn’t time stolen from work. It’s part of it.
- After every disruption I reread my last line and pick up from there.
- I don’t always understand what my body is saying, and I listen anyway.
- When my shoulders creep up toward my ears, I bring them down a notch.
- My break doesn’t need to produce anything useful to be legitimate.
- My sleep doesn’t have to look like anyone else’s, or like it used to.
