The best affirmation apps in 2026: an honest comparison
There is no single best affirmation app. I am runs on the most devices but shows ads in its free version; ThinkUp and Innertune are built around listening to affirmations, including in your own voice; Believe and Gratitude show no ads on their store listings; and Selfia, which publishes this comparison, focuses on believable phrases, meditation and a private journal, on Android only. Here are 8 apps compared on the same criteria, with prices checked on October 15, 2026.
Disclosure: this page is published by Selfia, one of the apps compared. Every fact about another app comes from its App Store or Google Play listing, or its publisher’s website, read on October 15, 2026 and listed at the end of the page. Selfia’s limits are stated just like everyone else’s.

Prices are those shown on the US App Store (Selfia: Google Play in France); one app often lists several offers, and prices change by country and promotion.
Our criteria
- Platforms. Android, iPhone, or both.
- Languages. The language list on the App Store.
- Price. What the subscription costs as shown by the store, and what stays free when the listing says so.
- Ads. What the stores flag.
- Features. Reminders, widgets, recording your own voice, journaling, meditation: what the listing or the publisher’s website describes.
What we did not judge: the quality of the phrases from one app to another, which is best judged by trying an app for a few days, and store ratings, which change quickly.

Apps we left out
- Motivation – Daily quotes (Monkey Taps): a well-known app from the makers of I am, but built around quotes rather than affirmations.
- Shine: often listed in older rankings. Headspace Health acquired it in 2022 and said the app would be sunset later that year (TechCrunch); we did not find the original app on either store on October 15, 2026.
- Louise Hay Affirmation Meditations: still listed on the App Store, but last updated in August 2015.
Which app should you choose?
- You have an iPhone: every app here except Selfia is available; Mantra is iPhone-only.

- You want a free version with no ads flagged: ThinkUp, Innertune, Gratitude and Believe. Selfia has no banners but offers optional videos.
- You want a journal as much as affirmations: Gratitude, or Selfia on Android.
- You want phrases that don’t promise everything, with meditation and no account: Selfia, on Android.
Frequently asked questions
What is the best affirmation app?
None is best for everyone. As of October 15, 2026, I am runs on the most devices but shows ads in its free version; ThinkUp and Innertune focus on listening, including in your own voice; Believe and Gratitude flag no ads; Mantra is iPhone-only. Selfia offers believable phrases, meditation and a private journal, but only on Android. The best approach is to try two apps for a few days.
Is there a free affirmation app without ads?
Every app in this comparison is free to download. As of October 15, 2026, ThinkUp, Innertune, Gratitude and Believe show no ads flag on their store listings, but keep part of their content for subscribers. Selfia shows no banners and only offers rewarded videos that you choose to watch, which is why Google Play flags it as containing ads.
Which affirmation app works on Android?
I am, ThinkUp, Innertune, Gratitude, Believe, Daily Affirmations—Positive Me and Selfia are all on Google Play. Mantra is the only app in this comparison with no Android version. Selfia is currently Android-only, in English and French, and works without an account.
Do affirmation apps actually work?
The research is mixed. In 2009, two experiments with students (Wood, Perunovic and Lee, Psychological Science) found that repeating “I’m a lovable person” made participants with low self-esteem feel worse, and those with high self-esteem only slightly better. An app does not replace a professional; choose phrases you can actually believe.
